Theaterkostüme - Theatre Costumes

Am letzten Freitag waren Hermann und ich im Theater, besser gesagt, in der Naturbühne Steintäle in Fridingen – zugegeben, nicht gerade international bekannt, aber trotzdem hervorragend. Das Stück „Der dreimal tote Peter“ spielt in Frankreich zur Zeit des „Sonnenkönigs“ Ludwig XIV. (der auch in einer Szene dabei ist). Entsprechend mussten natürlich auch die Kostüme gefertigt werden. Dies wird im Falle des Theaters Steintäle offenbar mit viel Liebe zum Detail maßgeblich von einer mittlerweile 78jährigen Frau erledigt. Ich fand die Kostüme jedenfalls hinreißend und darum wollte ich euch die Schönsten von ihnen nicht vorenthalten!

Last Friday Hermann and I watched a play in an amateur theatre. The play was located in France during the era of Louis XIV who also appears in one scene. The costumes had to be created accordingly and for this little theatre that is done by a lady who is 78 years old meanwhile – in my opinion she did a marvelous job and that’s why I’m showing you the most beautiful costumes here!

Mit diesem Film verbinde ich eine besondere Erinnerung: ich habe ihn das erste Mal in einem Kino in England (an der Nord-West-Küste - war es Preston oder Lytham St. Anne's?) gesehen. Das war während eines Schüleraustausches im Sommer 1982. Ein Mädchen namens Katherine war zunächst in unserer Familie und danach wurde die ganze Truppe nach England verfrachtet, wo ich dann bei Katherine und ihren Eltern gewohnt habe. Wir unternahmen tolle Ausflüge, zum Beispiel zum Blackpool Pleasure Beach (mit der ganzen Gruppe) und nach Chatsworth (ich alleine mit Katherine und ihrer Mutter). 2005 war Chatsworth ja eine der beiden "Pemberley" - Locations für den Film "Stolz und Vorurteil" mit Keira Knightley und Matthew MacFadyen - aber das konnte man damals natürlich noch nicht wissen ;) Wie bin ich jetzt von "Grease 2" auf "Stolz und Vorurteil" gekommen? Dabei fällt mir ein, dass die beiden Geschichten eine entfernte Ähnlichkeit miteinander haben...

With this movie I connect a special memory: the first time I watched it was in a cinema on the north-west coast of England (was it Preston or Lytham-St. Anne's? - I don't remember). This was during a student exchange in summer 1982. A girl named Katherine had stayed with our family and then the entire group was taken to England where I stayed with Katherine and her parents. It was very nice, we visited Blackpool Pleasure Beach with the entire group, and Katherine and her mother took me to Chatsworth. In 2005 Chatsworth became one of the two locations for "Pemberley" in "Pride and Prejudice" with Keira Knightley and Matthew MacFadyen - but of course nobody knew it at that time ;) I just wonder how I got from "Grease 2" to "Pride and Prejudice" now - but I think the two stories are a little alike...

Grease

Dieser Film wurde Ende der 70er Jahre gedreht, spielt aber in den 50ern, und da ich ein großer Fan der 50er Mode bin, finde ich ihn besonders schön :)

This movie was made by the end of the 70s, but it shows the 50s, and as I am a huge fan of the 50s fashion I particularly like it :)

A Chorus Line

In diesem Film geht es hauptsächlich ums Tanzen - natürlich gibt es auch die üblichen zwischenmenschlichen Geschichten, aber eigentlich nur, damit die Tanz- und Sing-Einlagen in einen Zusammenhang gestellt werden.

In this movie the dance scenes are really the main thing - of course there are also issues between people, but this is only to connect the musical parts.

Tanzfilme - Dance Movies

Als Teenager war ich total verrückt nach den Tanzfilmen, die damals in die Kinos kamen. Die Tanzszenen waren so berauschend, wie die Handlungen flach waren ;) Ich werde hier in nächster Zeit meine Lieblings-Tanzfilme vorstellen – angefangen mit „Flashdance“. Die Geschichte, in der sich ein 18jähriges Mädchen in einen doppelt so alten geschiedenen Mann verknallt, fand ich zwar ätzend, aber es hat mich nicht wirklich gestört, denn die Tanzszenen waren wirklich toll!

As a teenager I was completely wild about the dance movies which were modern at that time. The dancing scenes were as beautiful as the stories were simple ;) During the following days I will introduce my favourite dance movies to you, and I start with “Flashdance”. Actually I hated the story of an 18 year old girl falling in love with a divorced man twice her age, but the dance scenes were just great!

Northanger Abbey

Zur Zeit schaue ich abends mal wieder den Film „Northanger Abbey“ (von 1986 mit Katharine Schlesinger und Peter Firth) – dieses Mal zusammen mit Hermann. Der Film gefällt ihm sogar einigermaßen, jedenfalls besser als die anderen Austen-Filme, von denen er ja immer behauptet, dort würde überhaupt nichts passieren … ;) Wir hatten den Film zunächst in der deutschen Version angeschaut, aber die Synchronisation ist so fehlerhaft – teilweise wird sogar das Gegenteil von dem gesagt, was im englischen Original gesagt wird – dass wir auf die englische Version mit Untertiteln (die genauso schlecht sind) umgestiegen sind. Leider kann Hermann nicht gut genug Englisch, um einfach so alles zu verstehen. Trotzdem – es ist eine Jane-Austen-Geschichte und die sind immer sehenswert :)

At the moment I’m watching the movie „Nothanger Abbey“ (the one from 1986 with Katharine Schlesinger and Peter Firth) again – this time together with Hermann. He even likes it, at least better than the other Austen movies, because he always says that nothing happens there… ;) At first we had watched the German language version, but the synchronization is so awful – sometimes they even say the opposite of what is said in the English version – that we switched to the original version with German subtitles (which are just as awful). Unfortunately Hermann’s knowledge of English is not good enough to understand it without subtitles. Nonetheless – it is a story by Jane Austen and they are always worth watching :)

Eine Braut für sieben Brüder - Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

Dieser Film von 1954 ist einer der schönsten Musikfilme, die ich kenne. Die Geschichte ist zwar verrückt, aber irgendwie nett, und Jane Powell als resolute Ehefrau und Schwägerin von sieben Männern ist absolut unschlagbar :) Ihren Ehemann spielt übrigens Howard Keel, der in Deutschland in den 80er Jahren durch die Serie „Dallas“ als zweiter Ehemann von Ellie Ewing bekannt wurde.

This movie from 1954 is one of the loveliest musicals which I know. The story is crazy, but nice, and Jane Powell as the resolute wife and sister-in-law to seven men is absolutely unbeatable :) Her husband in the movie is played by Howard Keel who in Germany became well-known in the 80s when he played the second husband of Ellie Ewing in the TV series “Dallas”.

Spielerei - Playing Around

Heute morgen habe ich bemerkt, dass Amreta sich jetzt auch als Designerin für Blogger-Hintergründe betätigt. Das musste ich doch gleich mal ausprobieren :)

Sommerzeit - Summer Time

Jetzt da der Sommer sich so langsam sehen lässt, wurde es Zeit, die Titelseiten meiner „Rund ums Jahr“-Website neu zu dekorieren, dieses Mal mit sehr niedlichen Grafiken von Kari :)

Now that summer is coming it was time to redecorate the title pages of my „Around the Year“ website. This time I chose very cute graphics by Kari :)
