Abendkleid - Evening Dress

Gestern habe ich ein bisschen mit meinem Brautkleid – ohne das Überkleid mit der Schleppe – herumgespielt. Ich möchte es ja eigentlich als Abendkleid tragen, wenn sich die Gelegenheit ergibt, aber da es doch wegen seiner Farbe sehr nach Brautkleid aussieht, muss ich mir etwas einfallen lassen, um es etwas bunter zu gestalten. Dabei sind mir die beiden Schals in die Hände gefallen und ich denke, damit sieht es gar nicht so schlecht aus. Für einen echten „Regency Ball“ wäre ein cremefarbenes oder sogar weißes Kleid durchaus passend, weil damals die Frauen ja eher zu einem Ball als zu ihrer Hochzeit weiß getragen haben, aber so etwas findet bei uns in der Provinz eher selten statt :( Also muss ich auf eine andere festliche Gelegenheit warten, um das Kleid tragen zu können!

Yesterday I played around a little with my wedding dress – without the overgown with the train. I would very much like to wear it as an evening dress on special occasions, but as the color looks too much like a wedding dress I have to think how to make it look more colorful. Therefore I tried the two shawls and I think it does not look too bad with them. Of course, for an actual Regency Ball a cream colored or even a white dress would be perfectly appropriate, as in that era women wore white to a ball rather than to their wedding, but I’m afraid in our remote part of the world events like these hardly ever happen :( Therefore I have to wait for other opportunities to wear the dress!
